Pivot of a remarkable scene in the history of MMA, Joe Rogan decided to open up about the controversial interview made with Conor McGregor, injured, still in the Octagon UFC 264. Ultimate's main commentator, the professional spoke about the reasons that led him to talk to the Irishman, who had just suffered a broken ankle. “People are saying, 'Why did you interview him?' In fact, he (Conor) brought me. He said, 'Come here, sit down. Let's do a podcast'. He asked me to sit next to him. I thought, 'How am I going to do this? I feel like I could get something out.' Even though you know that he is emotionally altered, it is an expression of who he is,” said Rogan, in a recent episode of his podcast.

In the fight, McGregor and Poirier made a historic trilogy for the UFC. In the event that broke audience records, the Irishman ended up defeated by the North American for the second time in 2021. This time, however, the ending was even more tragic for the 'Notório', who had been knocked out in January.

In the final seconds of the first round, after receiving hard blows on the ground for most of the stage, Conor managed to stay on his feet, but ended up fracturing his ankle when throwing a straight shot. Seconds after the injury, the bell sounded and McGregor was not allowed to return to the duel, with a technical knockout being declared in favor of Dustin.

What was seen next could be considered a horror show. On the floor, being attended to by doctors and visibly in pain, Conor insulted Poirier and even his wife, who responded to the 'Notorious' advances. After the shock, the Irishman was taken out of the Octagon on a stretcher and underwent surgery the following morning.

Considered one of the biggest names in the history of MMA, Conor has no plans to return to action. Today, the fighter is recovering from the injury he suffered.
