Chandler says McGregor is still one of the best fighters in the division and opens the door to a possible fight

The former lightweight challenger showed respect for the Irishman's career and stated that he would like to face him as soon as he is 100% recovered from his injury

Even with Conor McGregor getting bad results in their last fights, Michael chandler showed a lot of respect for the Irishman's career. The American fighter stated that he still considers the ‘Notório’ one of the best fighters in the lightweight division (under 70,3kg) and admitted that he would like to face him soon.

“When McGregor is healthy, would I fight him? Of course I would fight. I still think Conor is one of the best guys in the division. The guy is the king of promotion. The guy is the king of making people interested. Everyone is interested in seeing him fight, when the crown is too heavy, the fall is really difficult,” said Chandler through a post on his ‘Instagram'.

The Irishman fractured his left ankle in the rematch against Dustin poirier No. UFC 264 which took place on July 10th. The ‘Notório’ is going through a difficult phase in his career where he has been defeated in three of his last four fights. The former lightweight and featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) has a record of 22 wins and six losses.

Number four in the lightweight rankings, the ‘Iron Man’ was hired by Ultimate at the beginning of 2021. In his debut, in UFC 257, Chandler knocked out Dan Hooker still in the first round. In his next fight, the North American was defeated by the Brazilian charles do brox in the fight for the category belt. The former Bellator champion has a history in the sport of 22 triumphs and six setbacks.
