Businessman denies that 'Islam Makhachev x Rafael dos Anjos' is being negotiated

Light weight (up to 70,3kg.) Rafael dos Anjos may have to wait to get the long-awaited fight in front of Islam makhachev. The Brazilian, who revealed that he had an agreement for the duel, had his speech denied by the Russian's manager. In an interview with the North American 'ESPN', Ali Abdelaziz stated that there is still no agreement and says that his client has the power to choose his next opponent.

“We will not discuss this yet. He wants to fight in December, but the UFC wants him in October. All of this is in the hands of Islam makhachev”, said Abdelaziz.

At 29, Islam makhachev has a streak of eight wins in the UFC and occupies fifth place in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.) – behind only Dustin poirier, Justin gaethje, Beneil Dariush e Michael chandler, in addition to the champion Charles of the Bronx.

Moreover, Rafael dos Anjos tries to return to the top 5 in its category. Former champion, the Brazilian is coming off a victory against Paul felder in the judges' split decision, in November 2020.

The two fighters have already been 'booked' by Ultimate on two occasions, but the fight never actually took place. Firstly, Dos Anjos tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from the card at the last minute. Then Makhachev got an infection and the duel was canceled again.
