Last Monday (19), journalist Brett Okamoto, from North American ESPN, revealed that he spoke with Borracinha's manager, Wallid Ismail, who revealed that he would like to marry the fight against Vettori. Soon after, the Italian fighter's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, responded and expressed interest in the duel.
“I asked for an update on Paulo borrachinha to Wallid Ismail. He told me that the fight he is asking the UFC for is against Marvin vettori. The two provoke a lot, it would be an interesting marriage. Wallid is trying”, informed Okamoto.
“We are ready, just call Mick Maynard”, replied Ali Abdelaziz then.
Paulo borrachinha e Marvin vettori come from defeats to the current middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), Israel adesanya.
Borrachinha faced the Nigerian in September 2020 and ended up being knocked out in the second round. It was the first defeat in the Brazilian's career, after an impressive 13 consecutive victories, five of which were in the UFC octagon.
Marvin vettori, in turn, was the champion's last victim. The Italian was defeated by unanimous decision in the main fight of the UFC 263, in June this year, interrupting a sequence of five victories.
