This Friday (19), the president of the UFC, Dana White, declared that the holding of a superfight between Anderson Silva e Georges St Pierre would not make champions give up their titles. But the number one contender in the welterweight division, John hendricks, does not seem to agree with the leadership's stance, as demonstrated in an interview given to the website MMA Junkie.

“If he (St. Pierre) wants to go to middleweight, and then fight Anderson Silva, yes, it would be a great thing for our sport. But I want the belt,” said Hendricks.

Bigg Rigg, as he is known, said he already knew the questions he would like to ask Georges St Pierre: “When are we going to fight?” or “When you move up a category, will I be able to fight for the belt?” Furthermore, he also chose his favorite to compete for a hypothetical vacant belt: Carlos Condit.

One of the key points for the discontent of John hendricks is the waiting time. Considered for some time as the main challenger for the welterweight division belt, the North American had to give up his position to Nick Diaz.

“I don’t want to wait three months,” he declared. “I don’t care if he’s going to fight Anderson Silva. I understand why he would do that. I don't know if he has a good chance of winning, but if that's what makes you say, 'Hey, I really want to do this,' then do it. I just don’t want to stand here fighting for the number one contendership while he does that,” concluded Hendricks.
