Another important athlete on the Ultimate squad commented on his interest in changing categories in the organization. This time it was Nate diaz who revealed, in an interview with the website MMA Junkie, the interest in moving up a division, and joining the UFC welterweight roster.
“I don’t think there’s anything left for me at lightweight. I've beaten everyone or fought against everyone in that category. The only person I lost to was Ben (Henderson) and Gil (Melendez) will take care of him on Saturday. So, am I going to start fighting everyone again? Very annoying. There is no motivation in this. I prefer to face someone new”, he explained, taking the opportunity to praise his training partner Gilbert Melendez, challenger for the lightweight belt next Saturday (20).
Melendez, in fact, was pointed out as one of the factors that motivated Diaz to think about the hypothesis. Furthermore, the younger brother of Nick Diaz He recalled that he has been fighting at lightweight for almost a decade. Nate also stated that the division change should occur after his next fight, this Saturday, against Josh thomson, at UFC on FOX 7.
