Ronny Markes is knocked out in the first round on the preliminary card of Bellator 262

The only Brazilian athlete on the Bellator 262 preliminary card, Ronny Markes did not have a good performance against Said Sowma. The Brazilian fighter didn't have time to impose his game and was knocked out less than two minutes into the fight. The show was held at the Mohegan Sun Arena, in Unscasvile, Connecticut (USA).

The fight that closed the preliminary card of the event saw a hug between the two athletes at the bell. After an initial minute of much study, Said Sowa landed a cross that took the Brazilian to the ground. Referee Dan Miraglliotta stopped the fight after two more blows from the North American with the Tupiniquim athlete down.

With the knockout over Ronny, Said recovers from the negative result in his last fight against Tyrell Fortune. The American now has a record of seven wins and two losses in his career.

I couldn't even sweat. In a duel valid for the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), Cody Law ran over Theodore Macuka before halfway through the opening round. With a great performance in the stand-up fight, Law pressed his opponent against the cage and landed a sequence of jabs and straight shots until the referee stopped him.

Diana Avsaragova's good striking and takedown defense were extremely important for her good performance against Gabriella Gulfin. The Russian fighter resisted all of the North American's attacks, kept the fight standing and punished her opponent's face with a festival of jabs and rights during the 15 minutes of the fight. In the end, a surprising split decision by the referees in favor of the European fighter.

Adil Benjilany beat Johnny Soto via unanimous decision

The great balance marked the confrontation between Johnny Soto and Adil Benjilany. The two fighters staged a high-intensity duel in both striking and ground fighting. After a good start from Soto, Benjilany equalized the match with a good fight on the feet and looking for combinations. Johnny defended himself well and counterattacked when he had the opportunity. In the judges' decision, Adil won unanimously.

In impressive turnaround, Charlie Campbell knocks out Nicholas Giuletti

The duel that opened Bellator 262 saw an impressive turnaround. After being dominated during practically the entire first round with the fight on the ground, Charlie Campbell managed to get up and reinforced his takedown defense. After that, the North American took control of the fight on his feet and won by technical knockout in the second round.

With the good victory, Campbell now has four wins and one defeat in his career. On the other hand, Nicholas Giuletti now has a record tied with two positive results and two negative results.
