Conor McGregor is released from hospital and Dana White predicts the Irishman's return in a year

Following successful surgery on his left leg, McGregor has been released and is expected to return to Ireland to continue his recovery.

On the night of last Wednesday (14), Conor McGregor was discharged from the hospital. The Irishman underwent surgery in Los Angeles to treat the fracture in his left leg suffered in the main fight of the UFC 264, last Saturday (10), against Dustin poirier.

In an interview with the North American website TMZ last Wednesday, UFC president, Dana White, stated that McGregor should only return to the Octagon in around a year.

“I think they just discharged Conor ten or 15 minutes ago. He'll be in Los Angeles for a while, then I don't know if he'll go home or what he'll do. He’ll be back in a year,” Dana said.

Conor McGregor received a 180-day medical suspension from the UFC. The Irishman must present a medical clearance from an orthopedist for his broken leg if he is to return to action before January 7th, which appears unlikely at the moment.

McGregor was injured in the last seconds of the first round of the main fight of the UFC 264, in the trilogy against Dustin poirier. The American won the victory by technical knockout in the interval between the first and second rounds after the Irishman's injury was confirmed.

While the Irishman recovers, his rival Dustin poirier is ready to compete for the UFC lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) against the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx, category champion. The two should face each other in 2021.
