“I'm excited because it's my first main event. It's good, because before they give me a title fight, I want to prepare to fight five rounds. I have to feel the sensation and change my training routine accordingly. But it doesn't matter how many rounds it is, since I'm always training hard,” said Makhachev in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Makhachev is seen, by many, as one of the future contenders for the lightweight belt. In a good phase, he is on a positive streak of seven wins and hopes to be able to face the top ranked teams, if he manages to get past the Brazilian.

“I think (my opponent after Thiago Moses) will be a fighter close to the top-5. I can think of a few guys like Rafael dos Anjos ou Tony Ferguson. I was going to fight RDA before, in Abu Dhabi, but he caught coronavirus. We should fight, but maybe in the next (fight) it will happen”, he concluded.
