Weidman on fighting Spider: 'I want to shock the world'

the american Chris Weidman, the next challenger for the UFC middleweight belt, remains firm in his self-confident stance adopted since he began seeking a confrontation against the Brazilian Anderson Silva. In an interview with the 'MMA Mania' website, Weidman praised his rival, but spoke of his bold intentions.

Regarding his opponent, the North American was full of praise. “I'm one of the biggest fans of Anderson Silva. He's one of my favorite fighters. Of course, he has 16 straight UFC wins, has defended his belt ten times, and much more. He has done an excellent job, and is very confident, to the point of beating most of his opponents before they even enter the Octagon. He makes them so uncomfortable that they weaken. And when he sees them shaken, then he attacks them to the point that it seems like he is a god,” he declared.

However, hyping up his opponent only made Weidman demonstrate even more ambitious plans. “I agree and I think he's the best of all time, the best pound-for-pound in the world and everything. But I think I'm even better. I think I can beat him. I feel enormous motivation for this fight. One of the biggest is to prove to everyone who thinks I'm going to be massacred and who thinks he's unbeatable that they're wrong. Can not wait. I want to make it look easy to beat him. I want to shock the world”, he said.

Chris Weidman faces Anderson Silva in the main fight of UFC 162. The fight is valid for the middleweight title, held by Spider since 2006. The fight night is scheduled to take place on July 6, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA ).
