For Conor McGregor it's not enough to just win Dustin poirier next Saturday (10). Seeking revenge for the defeat suffered by ‘Diamante’ in January, the Irishman promised an even better performance than in the duel against Eddie Alvarez in 2016. The statement was made in the ‘half day' of UFC 264.

“I'm better than this man (Poirier) and I'm looking forward to showing that on Saturday. My performance in that fight (against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205) was widely considered the greatest performance in UFC history. That day, I won my second belt at Madison Square Garden. My next performance will surpass this one”, promised the Irishman.
On November 12, 2016, the UFC held its first edition at Madison Square Garden, in New York (USA). In the main fight of the night, Conor McGregor he was the challenger against the then lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) Eddie Alvarez. With a masterful performance, the Irishman knocked out the division leader in the second round. With the triumph, ‘Notório’ won his second simultaneous title, along with the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg).
Looking to return to reign in the under-70,3kg division, Conor needs to defeat Poirier in the UFC 264. The two athletes have already faced each other on two occasions, in 2014 and 2021, with one victory for each side. The winner of the duel will be the champion's next challenger charles do brox.
