After going overboard in an interview and calling transgender fighter Fallon Fox, among other insults, a “disgusting freak”, heavyweight Matt Mitrione was suspended indefinitely by the UFC. The organization released an open letter about the episode.

“The UFC was shocked by the 'transphobic' comments made by heavyweight Matt Mitrione in today's interview on the MMA Hour program. The organization finds Mr. Mitrione's comments highly offensive and entirely unacceptable and – as a direct result of this significant breach of the UFC's code of conduct – Mr. Mitrione's contract is suspended and the incident is being investigated. The UFC is a friend and ally of the LGBT community, and expects and demands that its 450 athletes treat others with dignity and respect”, says the text.
