The Brazilian Antonio Pezão received important help in his fight against Cain Velazquez. The duel, valid for the heavyweight belt, will be the main attraction of UFC 160, an event that takes place on May 25th, in Las Vegas, in the United States. And to try to bring the belt back to Brazil, the athlete from Paraíba will have the help of his compatriot Glover Teixeira in training.
“Glover is very strong, he can put his opponent down very well, he gets on the front leg very well, very quickly. His presence in my camp will be very important”, explains Pezão. “I believe he will soon be UFC light heavyweight champion. We also have excellent wrestlers and strikers here, the training is excellent. I’m very confident and I’ll arrive very well on August 25th.”
In addition to having the skills to Glover Teixeira, Antonio Pezão He also relies on tips from Steve Mocco, a former Olympic wrestler, to surprise the champion. Mocco already faced Velasquez when they were still fighting at Universities.
“Mocco is helping me with a lot of things, especially because he made his MMA debut last year. He’s applying wrestling to MMA, and that’s great, it’s been fundamental in my preparation process,” he added.
Trainings in the USA only
In your last fights, Antonio Pezão was part of the camp at Team Nogueira. But this time, the quality at ATT is so great that a return to Brazil is not part of his plans.
“I was almost certain to return to Rio de Janeiro to train with Team Nogueira, but I'm feeling really good here, the training is giving good results. I think that being close to my family, I can perform better. I always thank Minotauro for everything he did for me and for always welcoming me with open arms, it’s an eternal debt I owe”, he concluded.
