Confirmed as an opponent of Derrick Lewis in the fight for the interim heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg.) of Ultimate, Cyryl Gane avoided getting into controversies. Without wanting problems with the current linear champion, Francis Ngannou, the Frenchman minimized the importance of the title he will compete for in UFC 265. In an interview with 'MMA fighting', the 'giant' spoke about the subject.

“It’s just an interim title. The linear champion is the Francis Ngannou. He doesn't have to worry. If it were him, at least he wouldn’t be worried,” said Gane.

The news of the creation of a second heavyweight belt took many people by surprise, as Francis is not injured and is in a position to fight. The information, however, was not well received by the French-Cameroonian and his team.

While Ngannou chose to publish an ironic phrase, questioning Ultimate's decision, the linear champion's manager went further. This week, Marquel Martín, publicly argued with UFC president, Dana White, demanding satisfaction from the 'big boss'.

While Ngannou and Gane face each other on August 7, Ngannou still doesn't know who will be his first challenger for the belt. The French-Cameroonian took over the top of the division in March, when he ran over Stipe Miocic with a brutal knockout in the second round.
