Looking for a title shot in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), Liz Carmouche believes she already deserves an opportunity. After knocking out Japanese Kana Watanabe at Bellator 261 last Friday (25), the American stated that she should be next in line in the race for the category belt. The statement was given in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“When I joined Bellator, I wanted to work until the end. I wanted to end the division, so the only option is to win the title. That's exactly what I'm trying to do right now. I think this fight shows that I'm the next challenger. The organization can put whoever they want in the title fight, but I should be next in line,” said Carmouche.

Current number two in the flyweight rankings, Liz Carmouche has yet to feel the bitter taste of a defeat in Bellator. Since signing her in 2020, the American has scored victories against DeAnna Bennett, Vanessa Porto and Kana Watanabe. The North American has a record of 16 triumphs and seven setbacks.

The women's flyweight belt may soon have a new owner. The current champion, Juliana Velasquez faces the Dutch Denise Kielholtz in the main fight of Bellator 262 scheduled for July 16th. The show will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Unscasville, Connecticut (USA).
