The first defense of the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg) by Gegard Mousasi already has a date set. The veteran fighter will put his title on the line against American John Salter in the Bellator 264 scheduled for August 13th. The information was first released by 'MMA Junkie' but has not yet been confirmed by the organization.

Professional since 2003, the Iranian-born fighter has had more than 50 fights in his career. Former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Mousasi won the Bellator belt by beating the Brazilian Douglas lima in October 2020. The 35-year-old athlete has a record of 47 triumphs, seven setbacks and two draws.
Fighting in the organization since 2015, John Salter has only one loss in nine fights for the company. The only setback was in September 2018 when he was submitted by Brazilian Rafael Lovato. The fighter has 18 positive results and four negative results in his professional history.
The show has not yet had any other fights announced and will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Unscasville, Connecticut (USA).
