Timothy Johnson and Valentim Moldavsky will fight for the interim heavyweight belt at Bellator 261 this Friday

With an eye on a duel for unification against Ryan Bader, the two 'giants' will face each other; John Macapá represents Brazil on the preliminary card

Everything ready for Bellator 261 which takes place this Friday (25). In the main fight, Timothy Johnson will face Valentin Moldvasky to define the new interim heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg). In the second most important clash of the night, veteran Liz Carmouche will duel against Japanese Kana Watanabe, in a fight that should define the next flyweight challenger (under 56,7kg). The show will be held at Mohegan Sun Arena, in Unscasville, Connecticut (USA).

Current number one in the division's ranking, Timothy Johnson has been riding a streak of three consecutive victories. His last defeat was in August 2019 when he was knocked out by Vitaly Minakov. The North American has a record of 15 wins and six setbacks.

Hired by Bellator in 2017, Valentin Moldavsky still doesn't know what defeat means in the organization chaired by Scott Coker. Since its debut, there have been five consecutive victories for the company. The Ukrainian has a record of 10 wins and just one setback.

The winner of the confrontation will face the current linear champion of the category, Ryan bader. The North American is preparing for the duel against Corey anderson in the semi-final of the light heavyweight GP (up to 93kg). The fight does not have a date set yet.

CO-MAIN FIGHT OF THE NIGHT

In the second most important duel on the card, veteran Liz Carmouche will share the circular cage with Japanese Kana Watanabe. The two athletes occupy, respectively, positions two and three in the flyweight rankings and, the winner of the confrontation, should be the next challenger for the category belt. The current champion, Brazilian Juliana Velasquez will put her title on the line against Denise Kielhotz at Bellator 262 scheduled for July 16th.

BRAZIL ON THE CARD

The only Tupiniquim representative at the show will be John Macapá. The Brazilian returns to Bellator after fighting for the Japanese event Rizin and will measure forces against the North American John De Jesus. The duel will be valid in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) and will close the preliminary card of the event.
