Opponent of Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 264, confirmed for July 10th, Stephen Thompson has some 'friendly advice' for one of the show's protagonists. “I think Conor lost something in the last fight (UFC 257). I think it's because of the boxing training he was doing. He doesn't have the same movements that we used to see. The way he won José Aldo, it was the movement that won that confrontation”, said Stephen.

Present in the show's co-main fight on July 10, Thompson then pointed the way for Conor to overcome Dustin. According to the American, to erase the harsh defeat suffered by 'Notório' in January, there must be a change in style.

“He needs to move like a karateka. He has to go back to his roots, hitting and leaving. He can thwart the attacks of Dustin poirier with your movements. Being a good counterpuncher, he can do that,” he concluded.

Former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), McGregor now occupies fifth place in the group led by Charles of the Bronx. The Irishman has not won a clash in the category since November 2016, when he overcame Eddie Alvarez and won the title.

After this feat, the athlete moved away from MMA and even promoted a boxing superfight against the legendary Floyd Mayweather. The clash yielded million-dollar sums for the protagonists.

With the hiatus in his career, Conor ended up losing his position as champion due to inactivity. The Irishman, however, tried to regain the throne, but ended up being defeated in the historic fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, in 2018. The former champion returned to the division in January of this season, but ended up being surpassed by Poirier.
