Luis Peña, a lightweight fighter (up to 70,3kg) in Ultimate, got involved in a problem with the law last Friday (18). The athlete was arrested by the Coral Springs Police Department, Florida (USA), on charges of assault, criminal mischief and robbery. According to officials, Peña was located via anonymous tip and, if convicted, could face US$5 (around R$27) in fines. In addition, it can also be classified as a third-degree crime, punishable by up to five years in prison.
In a sincere outburst, the fighter spoke out on his social media. According to the American, he has been experiencing 'mental health problems' and says he is willing to receive medical help.
“I appreciate everyone’s support in my honesty. It's not an easy subject to talk about or even acknowledge yourself. People don't feel comfortable talking about it, but I've been going through serious mental health issues my entire life and I've finally gained the strength to receive and accept the help I've needed for a long time. If you are having difficulties, take it from yourself”, wrote the fighter.
