TUF Brasil 2 defined, this Sunday (24), the last 14 fighters who guaranteed a place in the house and continue to compete for their dream contract with the UFC. After the first episode, which aired last week, where seven athletes advanced to the next stage, in the second program, which aired tonight, seven more fighters from the welterweight division confirmed their passage to the Ultimate reality show .
Argentine guarantees place in TUF Brasil 2
The highlight of the night was the Argentine Santiago Ponzinibbio, who could be the first athlete from his country to fight in the UFC. “El Rasta”, as he is known, fought the best fight of the undercard against Thiago Bel and advanced in the dispute by defeating the Brazilian by technical knockout in the second round.
Ninja finishes Sucuri and enters the house
Another highlight of the second episode was Juliano Ninja. The Santa Catarina native, who calls himself the “prototype of the new fighter” because he speaks English, French and reads fashion books, imposed his game against Henrique Sucuri.
Ninja looked for takedowns and several submission attacks, which were always well defended by Sucuri. Henrique still managed to reverse some positions and take the dispute to the third round. But in the assault that defined the dispute, Ninja got to his back, secured the rear naked choke and secured his place in the house.
Yan Cabral advances in the fight against his friend Rony Silva
The controversial “fight between friends” caught attention in the last qualifier of TUF Brasil 2. Yan Cabral and Rony Silva train together and had to compete for a single spot on the reality show. In the duel, better for Yan, who managed to impose his jiu-jitsu technique to escape Rony's Kimura attempt, take the fight to the ground and lock in a rear naked choke.
Choice of teams
After defining the 14 athletes who guaranteed a place in the house, it was the coaches’ turn. Rodrigo Minotauro e Fabricio Werdum come into action.
In the coin toss, Werdum won and had the option of choosing the first athlete or having the first fight. The gaucho chose to fight. It was then up to Minotauro to choose the first athlete for his team: Luis Besouro, who secured a place on the reality show in the first episode. Fabrício then selected Pedro Iriê, who also acted in the first program.
