The fight against Chavez will be the third of Anderson Silva in the 'noble art', the first since he left the UFC, at the end of 2020. Spider, considered an underdog for the confrontation, did not hide his happiness at facing a former world champion 11 years younger.
“(Boxing) is an incredible, traditional sport. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to box against an incredible name, to be on the same card as Júlio César Chávez and to fight his son. I’m very happy,” said Anderson, before talking about his career in the sport.
“I have been training boxing for many years. In Brazil I fought professionally, of course, not at the same level. I just try to enjoy the moment and do my best to send a good message to each person who follows me and cheers for me”, concluded the Brazilian, in an interview with BJPenn.com.
On the other hand, Chavez Jr, foresees an exciting duel against Anderson, but guarantees that he hopes to knock out the Brazilian after the third or fourth round.
“(The confrontation against Anderson Silva) has all the ingredients to be an exciting fight. I predict I can knock him out after the third or four rounds. That's when I get into a rhythm and start to feel like I'm in the ring. I predict that after the fourth round, I will be able to knock him out. And if he lasts longer than that, it will be his fault. It's going to be a beating”, declared the former boxing champion in an interview with 'TMZ Sports'.
At 35 years old, Júnior experienced his peak in boxing between 2006 and 2015, when he won and defended the WBC (World Boxing Confederation) belt. Over his 17-year career, the athlete, who is the son of the legendary Julio César Chávez, competed in 59 fights. Thus, there are 52 wins and five losses.
