After the 'ride' of Brandon Moreno about Deiveson Figueiredo No. UFC 263 , Dana White made no secret of the fact that he was surprised by the way the fight unfolded. The agent admitted that he did not expect a victory from the Mexican, especially in the calm way it happened. The statement was given in an interview after the show.

“I'm going to be very honest with you. Going into this fight, I didn't see how Moreno could win. Deiveson is a savage and I thought the second fight would be very different from the first. I was right but I was wrong. Good for Brandon, an incredible performance tonight. It seemed like Figueiredo couldn't fight, he was slow. Moreno made it all look easy. He is the first fighter born in Mexico to become UFC champion and that is very good for him”, said Dana.

Asked about the Brazilian's difficulties in breaking the limit of the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), Dana believes that this may have influenced Deiveson's performance but did not want to diminish the 'shine' of Moreno's victory.

“This has been a problem. The guy is an absolute savage and he hasn't been good in his last two fights. But I don’t want to take away the merits of Brando Moreno, who was great”, concluded the president.

Brandon's victory last Saturday (12) marked the second clash between the Mexican and Deiveson Figueiredo. The first duel took place in UFC 256 in December 2020 and it ended in a draw, which meant that the belt remained with the Brazilian who was the current champion.
