Multi-time boxing champion, Claressa Shields debuts in MMA and headlines the PFL show this Thursday

For fans of Claressa shields, a historic night. This Thursday (10), in Atlantic City (USA), the multiple champion in the 'noble art' will make her first test in MMA. A reference in boxing, the American headlines the PFL event and faces Brittney Elkin, seeking to make history in the new sport. Natan schulte, Joilton Peregrino and Sheymon Moraes are Brazilian highlights.

World boxing champion in three different categories and owner of two Olympic gold medals (2012 and 2016), Shields will face one of the biggest challenges of her career this Thursday. Seeking to prove that she is capable of performing at a high level in a new sport, the fighter will face Elkin, who is trying to recover from three consecutive defeats.

Brazil will be represented by three names, divided between the main and preliminary cards of the show. In the first half, the current champion of the lightweight tournament (up to 70,3kg.), Natan schulte, tries for his first victory of the season and faces Alex Martinez. Before, former UFC Sheymon Moraes faces Jesse Stirn.

In the second half of the event, it will be the turn of the Brazilian naturalized German, Joilton Peregrino, to ascend to the decagon. Seeking first place in the under-70,3kg category championship, the athlete will face off against Clay Collard in the co-main fight.

Since confirming her test in MMA, some of Shields' fans have been eagerly awaiting the multi-time boxing champion's debut in mixed martial arts. In order not to disappoint, the boxer sought help from Jackson Wink MMA, receiving direct help from names like Jon Jones e Holly holm, Ultimate references.

This Thursday, spectators will be able to follow the performance of the two-time Olympic champion. Still with a 'zero' record (0-0), the fighter will have the opportunity to make her debut in mixed martial arts on the right foot.

To win, Claressa will need to extend Brittney's bad phase, which has suffered four defeats in her last five appearances. The fighter's last victory came in June 2016, when the fighter defeated Kola Shippentower Willingham, at Sparta Combat League (SCL) 49.

The return of Natan Schulte

Two-time champion in the lightweight tournament (2018 and 2019) promoted by the PFL, Natan schulte tries to recover from the defeat suffered in its debut of the season. Trying for the 'tri', the fighter ended up defeated in the first round of 2021, when he was surprised by Marcin Held, in April.

Now, the Brazilian needs to win in a dominant way to avoid the risk of being left out of the next phase of the competition. To add three or more points, the Tupiniquim team will need to overcome the undefeated Alex Martinez, previously scheduled to face Anthony Pettis, who left the card after complications at the weigh-in.
