Miesha Tate talks about her family's motivation for her return to the UFC: 'I want to make my children proud'

The former bantamweight champion gave details about the message she wants to send to her family with her return to the octagon after four years of retirement

Ready to return to MMA after almost five years of hiatus, Miesha Tate His family inspires him to continue doing what he loves. The former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) spoke about the message she wants to send to her children with her return and stated that her goal is to make them proud. The statement was given in an interview with 'B.J. Penn'.

“This family dynamic, this love and support pushes me, drives me and makes me want to be an example for my children, you know? I want them to understand that winning is not everything. Losing is an opportunity to learn and winning is also an opportunity to learn. Handling both outcomes in a graceful and humble way is what I hope I can teach my children,” said Miesha.

The former bantamweight champion emphasized the message she wants to convey to her children with her return to the octagon and declared that she intends to make them proud of her determination and willpower.

“I really want to make my kids proud. I want my daughter to be a great woman, for her to understand her strength, her capabilities and never limit her dreams and goals. That's the most important thing. I don't want her to be a fighter, I want her to believe that she is capable of doing whatever she wants. I want her to be a strong woman and for my son to value that”, concluded Tate.

With a record of 18 wins and seven losses, Miesha Tate returns to the UFC after almost five years of retirement. His last duel was the defeat to Rachel Pennington in the judges' unanimous decision at UFC 205 in November 2016.

The fight that marks Miesha's return to MMA will be against Marion Reneau. The confrontation will be the co-main fight of the  UFC Las Vegas 31 scheduled for July 17th and will be valid for the rooster division.
