When Colby covington want, few provoke like him in the UFC. After publicly criticizing the choice of Alexander Volkanovsky e Brian ortega as coaches of the new edition of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), it's time for the new victim: Jon Jones. In an interview with podcast 'MMA Roested', the 'loudmouth' didn't miss the opportunity to provoke the light heavyweight legend (up to 93kg), who hasn't fought in over a year and is experiencing friction with the UFC board.

“He (Jon) will not fight at heavyweight. It's over and he knows it's over. He's trying to get more money and hopes it's enough so he doesn't have to do anything. I don't think he'll ever fight again. If he wanted to, he would have fought already,” Covington said.

The provocation of the welterweight (up to 77kg.) did not stop there. The former interim champion explained why he thinks 'Bones' has been out of action for over a year and, for the 'loudmouth', it's nothing more than excuses.

“He’s too small for heavyweight, he’s just trying to get big money against Francis (Ngannou), but he knows he’s going to get knocked out. He’s trying to get as much money as he can to take this beating,” he concluded.

Considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, Jones relinquished his old belt in August of last season. In February 2020, the American made his last title defense, when he beat Dominick reyes, retaining the light heavyweight crown.

At the end of 2020, 'Bones' announced that he would begin the process of physical evolution to migrate to heavyweight. Since then, the athlete has shown the change on his social networks.

A few months ago, Jon had received a verbal agreement that he would be the opponent of the winner in the fight between Stipe Miocic e Francis Ngannou, for the heavyweight belt. After the Franco-Cameroonian's brutal triumph in UFC 260, the stance of Dana White and his team changed, going so far as to leave 'Bones' aside and negotiate Derrick Lewis as the first challenger to the new champion's throne.

Recently, Jones stated that the change of division was not as easy as he imagined. The fighter then admitted that the long-awaited debut could be further postponed, taking place in 2022.
