Used to delivering big battles when he's in the Octagon, Deiveson Figueiredo declared that he intends to change his fighting style a little. The current flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg) stated that he will adopt a more 'patient' strategy in his fights but said he will seek the knockout against Brandon Moreno No. UFC 263, scheduled for June 12th.

“I want to have a long career. I've been watching the champions a lot. One guy I watch a lot is Kamaru Usman, who is patient, who plays 'one-two' and it's working, he's taking the guys down with a very heavy hand. I want this for myself. I want to be a little calmer, I don't want to advance the signal too much so that I want to kill in the first round. It's about having patience to arrive and knock out. If I keep my guard down, the guys will study my game and one day they'll end up catching me. After the draw against Brando Moreno in the UFC 256 In December 2020, the Brazilian stated that he will seek the knockout in the rematch against the Mexican and said that on the eve of the first fight he suffered a serious stomach infection and that this hindered him a lot in the fight.
“I'm training to knock this guy out and show him and the world that I'm the real owner of the belt. In the first fight I accepted knowing that I was fine, even at short notice, but I had an intestinal infection on the Friday (the day before the fight). I gained weight and when I was rehydrating, I didn't feel well and ended up in the hospital. Then I went to the hotel and when it was 20pm the situation got worse, I had a lot of gas in my stomach and ended up in the hospital. I left there around 4 am, it was very heavy and they even washed me because my feces were petrified inside my body. We always warm up before fights and I warmed up 'on the fly'. But I told myself that I wouldn't leave without fighting and defending my belt”, declared the Brazilian.
Leader of the flyweight division since February 2020, the Brazilian has been very active and will be defending his fourth title. Riding on a streak of five consecutive victories, Deiveson hasn't known defeat since March 2019, when he lost to Jussier formiga in the judges' decision. The fighter has a professional record of 20 wins, one setback and one draw.
The rematch between Deiveson Figueiredo e Brandon Moreno will be the co-main fight of UFC 263 scheduled for June 12th. The show will also feature a fight for the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg) between Israel adesanya e Marvin vettori and the fight between Leon edwards e Nate diaz valid for the welterweight group (up to 77,1kg).
