The duel was initially scheduled for the UFC 260 which happened in March of this year. However, Volkanovski tested positive for Covid-19, which made the fight impossible. Due to the category leader's long recovery, Ultimate decided to hold an edition of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter' with the two fighters.

Leader of the group since 2019, Volkanovski will be defending his belt for the third time. The Australian has a record of 22 wins and just one loss. Already Brian ortega will have his second chance to be division champion. In 2018, the North American faced Max Holloway and was defeated in the unanimous decision of the judges. 'T-City' has a history of 15 triumphs and only one setback in professional MMA.
