Carla Esparza shows confidence in getting the title shot against Rose Namajunas

After the excellent victory over XiaonanYan at UFC Vegas 27 last Saturday (22), Carla esparza exuded confidence that she will be the next challenger for Rose namajunas. The North American explained her reasons for publicly asking for a fight for the strawweight belt (up to 52,1kg) and stated that the duel against 'Thug Rose' is the only one that 'makes sense' in the category.

“I felt like I really needed to make a statement to solidify my place in a possible title fight. Rose wants this fight too. She loves accepting rematches for the fights she lost,” she stated to 'cookie Monster' in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Showing confidence that she will be able to fight for the belt, Carla remembered the first duel between the two athletes and declared that today she feels like a 'better version'.

“I feel confident. Today, it's the only fight that makes sense to me. I think we are a better version of ourselves. His precision and his knockouts are much sharper than before”, concluded Esparza.

If the duel between Esparza and Namajunas is made official, it will be the second duel between the fighters. In 2014, the two athletes decided on the twentieth edition of 'The Ultimate Fighter'. On that occasion, 'Cookie Monster' submitted the current champion in the third round and became, at the time, the first leader in the history of the division.

Current number three in the division, Carla is riding a streak of five consecutive victories. With a record of 18 wins and six losses, Esparza hasn't known what a negative result is since UFC 228 in September 2018, when she was knocked out by Tatiana Suarez placeholder image in the third round.
