Dana White says UFC is looking for a backup fighter for 'Poirier vs. McGregor 3'

Even with high expectations for the third duel between Dustin poirier e Conor McGregor, Ultimate does not want to run the risk of being without its two main athletes in the UFC 264. Fearing an emergency, organization president Dana White said he is looking for a fighter to be a reserve for the fight that will headline the event. The statement was given in an interview with 'B.J. Penn'.

“In fact, we are looking for someone to be the reserve for this main fight. So far we haven't contacted anyone, but we're going to fix it. But I hope no one leaves this confrontation”, said the boss.

Asked if the winner of the duel would be guaranteed as a challenger to Charles of the Bronx to the lightweight belt, the UFC president did not guarantee it and stated that everything will depend on how the fight will unfold.

"I don't know. I have to watch this fight and see how she does”, concluded Dana.

O UFC 264 scheduled for July 10th will mark the tiebreaker between Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier. In the first duel, in September 2014, the Irishman won by knockout. In the rematch, in January of this year, 'Diamante' triumphed using the same method in the second round over 'Notório'.
