Ready to face XiaonanYan No. UFC Las Vegas 27, Carla esparza is already eyeing a possible title fight in the future. The North American declared that she hopes to face the strawweight champion (up to 52,2kg) Rose namajunas in case of victory next Saturday (22). The statement was made in an interview on the official Ultimate website.

“A victory next Saturday should put me as the first option. I already beat Rose once, I submitted her. Namajunas has evolved a lot over the years and so have I. So I think we are both very different fighters but I think I would have an advantage in this fight. She’s never lost a rematch, so this is an interesting fight,” said Esparza.

The two athletes have already had the opportunity to share the Octagon. In the final of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter' in 2014, Esparza submitted Namajunas and became the first champion in the history of the strawweight category.

Current number four in the ranking, Carla is riding on a streak of four consecutive victories. With a record of 17 wins and six losses, the 'Cookie Monster' could be closer to a new title fight if he wins on Saturday. Esparza's last loss was in September 2018 at UFC 228 to Tatiana Suarez placeholder image.
