Still under contract with Ultimate, former welterweight champion (up to 77kg.) Georges St-Pierre says he would have loved to have agreed terms to come out of retirement and face Oscar De La Hoya in boxing. The Canadian, however, had his plans frustrated by the organization's president, Dana White, who allegedly did not release the athlete for the fight.

Now, St-Pierre admits he is disappointed he won't be able to box in the 'Thriller Fight Club' and highlighted that age – he turned 40 – is a big influence on his choice.
“I understand that Dana (White) doesn’t want me to fight. However, it would have been fun. Because my career as a professional fighter is over. I'm turning 40 tomorrow and this is a young man's game. Still, I preferred to fight in boxing under the rules that 'Triller' put in place”, stated GSP in an interview with 'Cinema Blend'.
Furthermore, the Canadian also regretted not being able to face Oscar De La Hoya and sharing the profits from the fight with charities.
“For me, it would have been a dream come true to face Oscar De La Hoya. He is my second favorite boxer – behind Sugar Ray Leonard. Furthermore, much of the money raised would be donated to charities. It would be fun”, concluded the Canadian.
Georges St-Pierre, who will join the 'Hall of Fame' of Ultimate soon, has a record of 26 wins and two losses. He has not performed professionally since his victory over Michael Bispingin November 2017.
