Ready for her second defense of the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg), Chris Cyborg expects a close fight in the rematch against Leslie Smith in Bellator 259. The Brazilian praised her opponent, said that she does not intend to be in a hurry to finish the confrontation and promised the fans a very violent fight. The statement was given to the 'MMA fighting'.

“Leslie Smith is a very tough fighter and people who watch her know that. Everyone also knows that I have the heart of a warrior. So, there will be a lot of violence in this fight. You guys should be excited to watch this fight,” said Cyborg.
Even though she knocked out Smith in the first duel between them, Cris stated that she does not intend to rush into the fight. The Brazilian declared that it would be great if she managed to finish the match quickly but that she would be prepared to fight for 25 minutes.
“I feel in my mind that I have five rounds to finish the fight. I have a different mentality for this fight. If I finish faster that's great, but I don't need to rush this time”, concluded the Brazilian.
The main fight of next Friday's show (21st) will be the second duel between the fighters. At UFC 198, held in Curitiba in May 2016, Cyborg knocked out Smith in the first round in a duel valid for the main card of the show.
Signed by Bellator in 2020, Chris Cyborg will go to his third fight for the organization. In her first fight, the Brazilian knocked out julia budd in the fourth round in January and won the featherweight belt. In his first title defense, he submitted Arlene Blencowe in October of the same year. The fighter has a record of 23 victories and two setbacks.
