Protagonist of UFC 262, the Brazilian valued the victory over Michael chandler in the dispute for the vacant lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.). After a scare in the first round and a comeback in the second, the São Paulo native paid respect to the North American, recently hired by the organization.

“It has to be difficult. It can't be easy. We are among the best in the world. We have to respect the Michael chandler. He is a former (Bellator) champion, he was hired (by Ultimate) for this”, said the Brazilian at the press conference after the show.
After assuming the throne left by the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, the São Paulo native exuded confidence. Living the best moment of his career, the fighter sent a message to the rest of the category.
“If they (opponents) come and fight me, my hand will go in. My hand is heavy. If they put me down, I'll do my jiu-jitsu (an athlete's specialty). It's like I said: 'every time I enter, I come to shock the world”, he concluded.
With the triumph over Chandler, Do Bronx made history as the second Brazilian to win the category title. Now, the athlete joins Rafael dos Anjos, group champion between 2015 and 2016.
