One of the most dangerous names in the history of lightweights (up to 70,3kg.), Tony Ferguson He's definitely not going through the best moment in his career. In the co-main event of UFC 262, held this Saturday (15), 'Bicho Papão' once again had a lackluster performance and ended up succumbing to Beneil Dariush. After being dominated for three rounds, the American ended up defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.

With the new defeat, Tony continues to experience the worst moment in his career in MMA. Now, the 37-year-old veteran has lost three consecutive defeats and is expected to lose his place in the top 5 of the division.
Asking for passage into the category, Dariush lives a reality opposite to the 'Bogeyman'. With the great performance, the Iranian reached his seventh victory in a row. In addition to the victory, the athlete takes an important step in the division, reaching the elite of the group once and for all.
The fight
The confrontation began with Dariush taking the initiative with a straight left. The Iranian continued to be more aggressive and landed a series of punches on the 'Bicho Papão's face. Confident, Beneil remained more aggressive, forcing Tony to walk backwards. After just over a minute, the Iranian took advantage of the good moment and took Ferguson to the ground. On top, Dariush tried to strike, but Tony attempted a triangle. The American applied pressure and Beneil protected himself. Beneil managed to free himself and started punishing his rival with 'hammer blows' from top to bottom. Towards the final minute, the Iranian continued to control the actions and left no room for his opponent to react. The round ended with Dariush trying to pass guard, but to no avail.
In the second stage, Beneil struck again with a low kick. Ferguson continued to struggle to 'find' the Iranian in the octagon. After attempting a takedown, Dariush got careless and Tony grabbed his neck. The American tried to adjust his position, but Beneil continued to resist. Ferguson was still strong, but was unable to impose the necessary pressure to force his opponent to give up. Beneil managed to get out of the grip and started punishing his opponent with punches from top to bottom. Ferguson tried to respond with elbows, but the advantage went to the Iranian. Halfway through the round, the North American managed to get up and reversed the situation. The Iranian, however, landed a heel hook, but Ferguson refused to tap. Dariush ended up losing the position, but remained superior in the confrontation. In the final seconds, Beneil continued to take advantage, but without much action.
The last round began with Ferguson needing a knockout or submission to win the fight. The athletes started the stage with open exchanges, but, afterwards, Beneil sought a grappling fight and managed to put Tony on the ground. Once again on top, Dariush weighed his body down on the American, preventing his rival from reacting. With two minutes remaining until the end of the confrontation, the Iranian continued to dominate the actions and did not allow the 'Bogeyman' to get up. From below, Tony tried a triangle again, but the veteran was unable to maintain the position. In the final seconds, Dariush threw blows to Ferguson's face, but there was no more time.
