In the fight that opened the main card of UFC 262, held this Saturday (15), in Houston (USA), Edson Barboza e Shane burgos they promoted a breathtaking clash. In a duel played 100% on the feet, the Brazilian got the better of the frank striking and added another victory in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg). With a tough knockout, the Friborg native got the positive result in the third round.

Barboza's triumph confirmed the Brazilian's good form in his new category. Now, the Brazilian can take ninth place in the group led by Alexander Volkanovsky. At featherweight since May 2020, the Friborg native now has two consecutive victories.
Defeated in UFC 262, Burgos now has two negative results in a row. This weekend, the North American was trying to recover from the setback he suffered against Josh Emmett, in June of last season.
The fight
The fight began with the athletes exchanging blows in the center of the octagon. Barboza risked three low kicks, but Shane responded with a straight shot that exploded in the Brazilian's face. The Friborg native continued trying to undermine his opponent's base. Burgos bet on his fists and threw jabs and straight shots, which stopped in Edson's high guard. The Brazilian moved a lot, trying to confuse his opponent. Near the final minute, Barboza connected with a round shot to his opponent's head that shook him. Even shaken, Shane continued walking forward, but the Friborg native continued to strike efficiently. The assault ended with the athletes exchanging attacks in the center of the octagon.
At the beginning of the second stage, Burgos tried to overcome the disadvantage and threw punches. Edson protected himself and responded with a sequence of direct and crosses. Barboza continued to vary his attacks, with punches and low kicks. A low kick from the Brazilian once again unbalanced the North American, but Shane continued walking forward. Accepting the frank exchange, the two fighters continued to test each other in the center of the octagon. Almost in the final minute, Edson connected a clean cross to the North American's face again. Towards the end of the stage, Barboza again risked a round shot, but the attack was not successful.
The last round began with Burgos taking the initiative with a low kick. Barboza tried to stop his rival's advance with kicks to the waist. The confrontation continued with aggression on both sides. With a cross, the Brazilian shook the North American, who lost his balance and ended up falling. Taking advantage of the good moment, the Friborg native had to continue striking until the referee interrupted.
