After having your desire to face a top-5 served, Beneil Dariush You don’t want to waste the opportunity. Ready for the duel against Tony Ferguson next Saturday (15), 'Benny' showed enthusiasm for the confrontation and declared that he is waiting for a 'war'. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

“I'm about to fight one of the scariest fighters in the UFC, one of the greatest lightweights of all time and I'm genuinely happy about it. I can barely wait. Just thinking about the fight makes me smile. I'm going to go in there and it's going to be war. I think we're going to see Tony at his best. I’m super excited about this fight,” said Dariush.
The Iranian declared that he does not wait for a chance to compete for the lightweight belt (under 70,3kg) even if he beats Ferguson and explained the reasons.
“I don't think that (defeating Tony) makes me number one candidate. I know it's weird to say just because you have a six-fight winning streak but I just don't think that's going to make me fight for the belt. If Dustin wins, I think he gets a title shot. Even if Conor loses, he will still be ahead of me. I'm still behind Justin gaethje too”, concluded Beneil.
Riding on a six-fight winning streak, Dariush is looking to gain a few more steps in the lightweight division rankings. Current number nine in the rankings, Beneil has a record of 20 wins, four defeats and one 'I didn't answer'. In his last fight, the 32-year-old fighter won Carlos Diego Ferreira in the judges' decision in February of this year.
