After victory at UFC Las Vegas 26, Neil Magny reveals interest in facing Khamzat Chimaev

The North American, however, thinks he doesn't want to wait for the Swede to recover and demands to face him

After winning again in the fight against Geoff neal No. UFC Las Vegas 26th of last Saturday (8th), Neil Magny He is already thinking about his future in the welterweight division (up to 77kg.). The North American now plans to face Khamzat Shimaev, but considers that he does not treat the duel as a priority in his career.

“I think if he stays healthy and can complete his training, then it's definitely a fight I'm interested in. However, I have things I want to achieve and time is not my friend, so I don't want to put my life on hold for it. I can’t wait for him,” said Magny in a post-event press conference.

In addition to stating that he wants to fight again to move up even further in the welterweight division, Magny also made a point of remembering Chimaev's health problems, following complications from COVID-19.

“I think Khamzat is a great competitor. I can fight him and boost my career. But I can't put my life on hold so he can be in his prime. The guy came out of three fights in the last few months. So, for me to put 'all my eggs in one basket' and wait for him, is stupid of me”, concluded the North American.

At 33, Neil Magny occupies ninth place in the division ranking. He has a record of 25 wins and eight losses and was on a run of three wins, before losing his unbeaten record against Michael chiesa. Now, he recovered and achieved a positive result against Geoff neal in the unanimous decision of the judges.
