On the rise in Ultimate after brutalizing one of the main names in light heavyweight (up to 93kg.), Jiri Prochazka is on the front line for a title shot. Even aiming for a confrontation against the current group champion – who faces Glover Teixeira in September - the Czech admitted that the Pole is not his dream opponent. In an interview with 'RT Sports', the athlete revealed that he would like to face the legendary Jon Jones.

“He (Jones) is the king of light heavyweight. He would be the biggest opponent in the category for me, but he's in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg) now. I’m not sorry about that, but I think that when he’s at light heavyweight he’ll be the most dangerous for everyone,” said the Czech.

That said, Prochazka knows that, in the near future, a fight against Jon is practically impossible, as the former champion of the category has, since August 2020, been preparing for his debut in the 120,2kg group. Therefore, it is up to the Czech to seek a duel against the winner of the battle between Blachowicz and Glover, in the UFC 266.

“I want to face the toughest fighters. The first was Volkan (Oeezdemir), (…) Dominick (Reyes) was one of the most dominant light heavyweight opponents, I think. His style is unique and dangerous. Next up now is Blachowicz. That’s what I’m looking at at the moment,” he concluded.

Former RIZIN champion, Prochazka needed just two appearances in Ultimate to reach the elite of the under-93kg category. With two consecutive knockouts, the athlete caught the eyes of the company's management and, today, occupies second place in the division, behind only Teixeira and Jan, who holds the belt.

Absolute light heavyweight legend, Jon Jones dominated the division for about 10 years. The American has not performed since February 2020, when he beat Reyes and defended the title, marking his farewell to the group. In August of last season, 'Bones' officially gave up the title and started preparing for the challenge in the top division.
