"That's awesome. I was preparing to fight in February but it was postponed to May and that gave me more time to prepare. I believed in myself and I showed today that everything worked out,” said Pettis.

Asked about his preparation for the duel against Juan Archuleta, the new leader of the under-61,2kg group declared that he just focused on his game and that he wasn't too worried about what the Spaniard was going to do.

“I preferred to do what I already know and stayed true to the basic fundamentals. I worried more about what I was going to do than what he (Archuleta) could do. I just was myself”, concluded the new bantamweight champion.
