UFC president Dana White revealed that José Aldo was reluctant to accept the fight against Anthony Pettis, valid for the featherweight belt. However, the duel was confirmed by the director himself, last Monday night (25), through his Twitter account. But the Brazilian's change of opinion had a special reason. According to a report from Sportv, in order to accept the fight, Aldo's coach, André Pederneiras, demanded, in case of victory, that the Brazilian's next commitment be for the lightweight belt.

“I called Dana White to confirm the fight (against Pettis), but with one condition: after this fight, the fight is worth a title fight against the lightweight champion,” said Pederneiras, who believes in the possibility of the fight being held at Brazil.

“Now we’re going to sit down and plan how the camp will go, which should start in a few weeks. These fights must be in Brazil”, he added.

Aldo, who has a professional record of 22 wins and just one loss, will make his fifth UFC belt defense. Previously he had already hit Mark hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes and finally, Frankie Edgar, who had also come down from lightweight to face the Brazilian and ended up defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.
