Dana White announces José Aldo against Anthony Pettis in August

After initial resistance from the Brazilian, the fight marks Aldo's fifth belt defense

The Brazilian José Aldo He already has a defined opponent for his next title defense. He defends his UFC featherweight reign against the American Anthony Pettis. After Dana White, president of the franchise, assured that the manauara did not want to accept the confrontation, he went back and confirmed the duel, on Monday night (25).

“The fight between Aldo and Pettis is done,” White wrote on his Twitter account. “Yes, Aldo x Pettis is for the featherweight title”, added the director, who did not reveal dates, but, it seems, the fight should take place on August 3rd.

Aldo, who has a professional record of 22 wins and just one loss, will make his fifth UFC belt defense. Previously he had already hit Mark hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes and finally, Frankie Edgar, who had also come down from lightweight to face the Brazilian and ended up defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.

In turn, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis has an MMA record of 16 wins and just two losses in his career. Known for his aggressive and plastic fighting style, he arrived in Ultimate as WEC champion, but did not have the promised chance to fight for the lightweight belt, as he was surprised by Clay guida in his debut.
