The American Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced that the fighter Raphael Bebezão received a two-year suspension after violating Ultimate's doping policies for the second time. The heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) was punished after testing positive for the substance 'Hydrochlorothiazide' and for not being located for testing on two other occasions.

According to USADA, the Brazilian would have tested positive on four occasions, on February 9th, 15th and 16th and March 4th. Because Raphael had not been notified until the fourth sample was collected, the four violations were considered as one. The heavyweight was also punished for not being located for testing on two other occasions, on January 25th and 28th.

Previously, Bebezão had already been punished for using the same substance. In November last year, Raphael was removed from competition for a year, but with a retroactive deadline to March 2020, the date of the test. This time, the Brazilian will be suspended until February 9, 2023, the date referring to the first positive test.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic banned by USADA. The substance is often used to lose weight and hide or make it difficult to perceive the use of doping substances in anti-doping tests.

With a record of 10 wins and two losses, Raphael was hired by Ultimate in 2019. In the organization chaired by Dana White, the heavyweight had three fights with one triumph and two setbacks. In his last fight, Bebezão was knocked out by Tanner Boser in July 2020.
