Analyzing Weidman's fighting style, Thompson stated that his training partner can compete again at a high level, even if he has to adapt his game to no longer use kicks.

“If that happened to me it would be different because I use my kicks a lot. He (Weidman) may never throw a kick again and still dominate his division in the UFC. He's not known for kicking a lot, he's famous for his punches and his wrestling. So that's what doesn't make his return worrying. Of course it's terrible that this happened and I pray that he heals quickly but he can win fights again without ever needing to throw a kick again”, concluded the 'Wonderboy'.
