Rory MacDonald and the Brazilian squad debut in PFL 2 this Thursday

Everything is fine for the second edition of Professional Fighters League (PFL) in 2021. This Thursday (29), in Atlantic City (USA), the organization will promote the debut of the organization's big bets for the season. The highlights are Rory McDonald, protagonist of the night, and, for Brazilians, the presentations by Gleison Tibau, João Zeferino, Antonio Shoe Guy e Cezar Mutant. In total, nine fights are scheduled.

Former Bellator champion and former UFC belt challenger, both at welterweight (up to 77kg.), MacDonad will have his first fight since October 2019. The North American will face Curtis Millender in the main fight, who also has stints in companies chaired by Scott Coker and Dana White.

In his last performance in MMA, MacDonald ended up being defeated by the Brazilian Douglas lima, in the final of the Grand Prix of the under-77kg group. Beaten, the American lost the opportunity to regain his old belt. After the setback, Rory chose to join the PFL.

Willing to ruin MacDonald's party, Millendes had a similar trajectory to his rival, however, without the same shine. The fighter had discreet spells in Ultimate and Bellator and arrives in the PFL looking to end a recent record of three defeats in the last five fights.

Still on the main card, an old acquaintance of Tupiniquins. One of the men who came closest to beating the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, Gleison Tibau is ready for his debut in his new house. A veteran of the sport, the Mossoro native moves up to welterweight and will have to fight against a compatriot. The opponent will be João Zeferino, who is making his fifth PFL clash. Without fighting since 2019, Tibau is looking for his third positive result in a row, while his opponent wants the fourth.

Preliminary Card

Released by Ultimate at the beginning of 2021, Antonio Shoe Guy He will also have his first appointment in the 'new house'. A light heavyweight representative, the athlete moved up a category and will test himself in the tournament against Tom Lawlor. If they overcome their rival, the Paraíba native, in addition to advancing in the championship, will leave behind a sequence of three negative results.

Pupil of Vitor belfort, Cezar Mutant will make his first challenge since leaving Ultimate in 2019. In front of him, the São Paulo native will have Nick Roehrick, who is also making his debut in the organization. The duel will be held between light heavyweights.

PFL Tournament

All athletes who perform for the organization are part of the tournament promoted by the company. Each division awards US$1 million (about R$5,3 million) to the winner.

In this first phase, combatants work to gain the highest number of points per fight. The best classifieds go to the knockout stage, which ends in the finals of their respective categories.
