“It would absolutely be the biggest fight in UFC history. The problem is that it wouldn't happen. It's just hypothetical. I lost hope. I think they have a better chance of doing it Kamaru Usman against Georges St-Pierre than against Khabib Nurmagomedov. It’s not going to happen,” said Usman.

The difficulties in reaching a deal with Khabib are due to the Russian's lack of interest in pursuing a career as a professional fighter. After winning Justin gaethje and unify the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.), in October of last season, the 'Eagle' announced his retirement, claiming that, after his father's death in July, he no longer found any point in continuing to compete.

In the following months, UFC president Dana White remained optimistic about Nurmagomedov's return to the Octagon. The Russian, however, remained firm in his decision until the 'boss' 'threw in the towel' and gave up trying to convince the legend.

Khabib and Usman's stories overlap at some points. Both are managed by Ali Abdelaziz. Furthermore, fighters have perfect records with Ultimate gloves. While Nurmagomedov left the company with 13 consecutive victories – without defeats –, Usman, last Saturday, reached his 14th positive result in the organization, also, without knowing what it's like to lose.
