The Brazilian Lyoto Machida, one of the main names in the UFC's light heavyweight category, does not rule out a possible appearance in the middleweight division. “The Dragon”, as he is known, stated that he is capable of making weight in the category, but ruled out challenging the current belt holder, Anderson Silva, who he said he considers a friend.

Machida, who recently stated that he believes that the winner of his confrontation against Dan Henderson will be the next challenger for the light heavyweight belt, he said, in an interview with the North American website MMAJunkie, who does not need to abandon his current category to fight in the middleweight division. “I can fight in both categories,” he said with conviction. “Everyone has seen that I drink water before I get to the scale”, he added, justifying his point of view.
