Considered, by many, as one of the greatest welterweights (up to 77kg.) in history, Kamaru Usman prepares to defend the division belt against Jorge masvidal, UFC 261 this Saturday (24). According to the Nigerian, he says he wants an even greater dominance in the rematch to extend his legacy in MMA.

“At the end of the day, the rematch is not about him. What about me. I wasn't satisfied with the way I dominated him (in the first fight). I don't feel like I've completely broken it in the way that satisfies me. That's why I ordered again. (…) I think it's just dominance so that you see an opponent wither to the point where they think: 'I don't want to be here with you anymore, please take me away'. I think this will be the key to victory”, revealed Usman in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

In his career in Ultimate, Kamaru Usman he broke Georges St-Pierre's record and now has the longest winning streak in welterweight history. In the organization since 2015, the Nigerian has 13 consecutive victories. He, however, indicates that he can break other marks before ending his career.

“I’m motivated because I didn’t really feel like I was able to build that legacy. I still have that fear in me. I want to go out there and get the win, but after that we have to really take a look and see what's new for me in the division. Whether it’s crossing paths with other fighters and doing something else or maybe leaving (retirement), you never know”, concluded the champion.

PUBLICITY:

Previously, the Nigerian has already spoken about the possibility of moving up a category. However, he has already indicated that he will not face his compatriot Israel adesanya. Already in the top 5 of his current division, Usman just didn't 'measure his strength' against Stephen Thompson and already defeated Colby covington, Gilbert Durinho, Leon edwards and himself Jorge masvidal.
