Chimaev regains confidence after drama with Covid-19 and compares himself to boxing legends

After going through bad times as a result of the coronavirus and considering retirement, Swede guarantees full recovery

Fully recovered from the consequences of Covid-19, Khamzat Shimaev appears to be at peace about his future in MMA. After considering retirement, due to serious complications arising from the disease, the Swede guarantees that he is ready to return to active duty. Promising new shows in the UFC, the promise went so far as to compare his talent with that of boxing legends.

“When I returned to my country, they helped me and performed an operation that required a few things. Now, I feel much better. Can not wait. I'm over 93kg, feeling stronger. I've just started training with my team and I'm going to find an opponent to 'kill'. I'm healthy, hungry. I want to go back, crush everyone and make money,” said Khamzat, in an interview with 'ESPN'.

Newly arrived in Ultimate, Chimaev caught the eyes of fans in his first appearances with the organization's gloves. In his last confrontation, the fighter needed just 17 seconds to run over the veteran Gerald meerschaert. Afterwards, the combatant was chosen to face Leon edwards, but ended up leaving the duel due to Covid-19.

Now, the athlete is looking to resume his career and continue impressing sports enthusiasts. With the promise of new shows, the fighter even compared himself to boxing legends.

At 26 years old, Khamzat has nine commitments as a professional in mixed martial arts. Former BRAVE CF standout, the Swede doesn't know what it's like to lose in your career.
