Even with Rober Whittaker's victory in the UFC Las Vegas 24 last Saturday (17), Dana White did not put the hammer down on the next challenger for the middleweight belt (under 83,9kg). The agent stated that the New Zealander is Ultimate's first option, but stated that if he is not ready, Marvin vettori must be the one chosen to face Israel adesanya.

"Must be Robert whittaker (Adesanya's challenger) but if he's not ready, Marvin vettori is the next guy in line”, declared Dana in an interview with 'Yahoo Sports'.
The two fighters have already had the opportunity to share the octagon with the current middleweight leader. In October 2019, the then champion Robert whittaker was dethroned by Adesanya in the UFC 243 when he was knocked out in the second round. Already Marvin vettori, faced the Nigerian in April 2018 and was defeated in a split decision by the judges.
After experiencing his first defeat in professional MMA, Israel adesanya awaits the next challenger to his belt. The leader of the under-83,9 kg group will return to his home division after an unsuccessful attempt to win his second title in the organization. In March of that year, the Nigerian was defeated by Jan Blachowicz No. UFC 259, in a duel valid for the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg).
