The UFC's plan was to marry a fight between Josh Barnett and Júnior Cigano

junior gypsy is scheduled to face the Dutchman alistair overeem at UFC 160, but the organization's plans for the Brazilian were different. The president of the event, Dana White, revealed that the initial idea was to arrange a confrontation between Cigano and Josh Barnett, however, the veteran has not yet agreed on his contract with the UFC.

White's revelation came in a chat with journalists after UFC on FUEL 7, last Sunday. When asked if the duel against the former Tupiniquim champion was the reason for Barnett's refusal to settle his contract, White vehemently denied it.

“I'm sure Josh Barnett doesn't care about that. He's never been one to say he doesn't want to face this guy or that guy. He is not that kind of person,” said the president.

UFC 160 takes place on May 25th, in Las Vegas, and in addition to the clash between Overeem and Cigano, it features another Brazilian in the main fight. Antonio Pezão challenge the champion Cain Velazquez for the heavyweight belt.
